Southern Inshore Fisheries Management Company Ltd (Southern Inshore) is an established Commercial Stakeholder Organisation that has the mandate to represent a range of stocks that occur primarily in the South Island. This mandate relates primarily to stock-specific matters such as views on setting Total Allowable Commercial Catches (TACCs) and deemed values.
Southern Inshore also takes responsibility for operational matters like establishing seabird risk mitigation practices on vessels and representing quota owners and fishers in established processes such as discussions regarding marine protected areas, Mataitai or marine farming consents.
Fisheries Inshore New Zealand works closely with Southern Inshore to ensure synergy between national and regional issues and effective resourcing.
